Who we are
Two translators, one German and one British, who
live and work in Escaladei, at the heart of the Priorat wine-growing
region. We have lived in southern Catalonia for more than twenty years
and, as language teachers and then as translators, we have worked with
many companies and public bodies in a range of administrative, service
and industrial sectors. We now work, for both direct clients and translation agencies.
Susanne Schmelzer

Susanne Schmelzer took an MA in English linguistics at
Munich University in 1987 and has since worked in the areas of language
training and translation. She has lived and worked in Germany, Britain and
Spain. Between 2005 and 2007, she took the MA in technical translation at the
Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in Tarragona.
Susanne has worked as a professional translator within
the language service cooperative SLP B2B, which she helped to set up in 2002.
She was also involved in the organisation both as a language trainer
for German and as the overall coordinator of the coop, in addition to working
as a freelance translator and interpreter. She is a member of APTIC, the
Catalan association of professional translators and interpreters.

Mike Holt
|
Mike Holt has been a full-time freelance translator
since 2002, when he completed the MA in technical translation at the
Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in Tarragona; he in fact went on to
teach on the URV translation courses for three years.
He started out as a professional translator
within the language service cooperative SLP B2B, which he helped to set
up, before going freelance.
In 2010, with the idea of working internationally, he did the
Chartered Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation, gaining merits
in all three parts of the examination. He is a member of APTIC, the
Catalan association of professional translators and interpreters.
